There's a new program in the Illinois PSM line-up:  plant biotechnology.

The program, recently approved by the Illinois Board of Trustees and the Illinois Board of Higher Education, replaces the current Illinois PSM program in plant biology for students entering in fall 2014 and later. The new program is an evolution of the plant biology PSM started in 2011.

The M.S. in plant biotechnology has a clearly defined biotechnology theme, leading students through a core of biotechnology-based courses with opportunities for technology-based experiential learning. Joan Huber, program coordinator, says "We’re excited to have a central focus on plant biotechnology in our MS program, while retaining the flexible interfaces with ecological, environmental and health-related disciplines."

Second-year Illinois PSM students will present posters of their internship experiences on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, in the Heritage Room of the ACES Library [map] from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The public is invited.  Students will discuss the workplace challenges they tackled and how the Illinois PSM prepared them for their internships.
Prospective students, industry partners, alumni, faculty and staff, and the community are invited.
