Today’s spotlight is Mengna Tang of our Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSHN) program.

Mengna started her Food Science journey at Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University in her home country of China where she received her Bachelor of Engineering in Food Science and Engineering. This summer, Mengna is working as an Operations Intern for Tasty Catering, a Chicagoland based catering company that was named one of Forbes Top Small Companies in 2016. Mengna is advised by Dr. Nicki Engeseth.

Our mid-week Student Spotlight is Hayley Cooper.

Hayley is a 2nd-year student in our Agricultural Production Program specializing in Food Animal Production. Hayley has always had a passion for animals, she grew up with horses and has worked for a veterinarian and ranch while she completed her B.S. in Animal Sciences here at the University of Illinois. This summer, she is interning with Professional Swine Management based out of Carthage, Illinois. Hayley is advised by Dr. Robert Knox in the animal sciences department.

Today’s spotlight is King Ming “Edmond” Lai, Geographic Information Science Student.

Edmond transitioned to the GIS field after working for a non-profit after graduating from U of I with a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences. This summer, Edmond is working as a transportation planning intern for the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission. His main interests are in sustainable development and green building. After graduation, he hopes to work in industry for a while before starting his own non-profit GIS firm. Edmond’s advisor is Dr. Shakil Kashem of the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Science.

Our final #StudentSpotlight of the week is Wenhan Kong

Wenhan is a 2nd year Geographic Information Science student.  She graduated from Wuhan University with a B.S. in Geographic Information Science and Cartography in her home country of China. She is currently a Geospatial Imagery Analytics intern at John Deere’s University of Illinois Research Park location. Wenhan is advised by Dr. Shakil Kashem of the Geography and Geographic Information Science Department.

Today's Student Spotlight is Bryce BeVier. 

Bryce is currently enrolled in our Agricultural Production PSM program specializing in Food Animal Production. He obtained his B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Tennessee, where he also swam competitively. Bryce’s main interest is in swine production and management which led him to his internship with The Maschoff’s this summer. He is currently working as their Business Development intern and hopes to work in the swine industry once he finishes his graduate studies. Bryce is advised by Dr. Knox, state swine extension specialist, and assistant professor.
