IL PSM Student Spotlight: Brittney Madison

Brittney Madison, Agricultural Production student is our first spotlight of the week.

She earned her B.S. in Crop Sciences, with a concentration in Plant Biotechnology and Molecular Biology right here at the University of Illinois. She was named a James Scholar and held numerous internships throughout the seed industry, most notably as a pathology intern for Mycogen Seeds and as a Student Practicum Project Manager for Syngenta. She also volunteered in the greenhouse doing experiments with green pepper plants.

As a graduate student, Brittney works in another Crop Sciences lab where she photographs plant species and creates flyers for the University of Illinois Extension and Agronomy Day. She is also a Graduate Student Trainee in Ag Safety and Health.

Long-term, Brittney wants to utilize her crop science knowledge to be a liaison between the scientists and farmers. She is getting to do just that this summer working for AgriGold where she works with research plots, assists with marketing and speaks with potential customers about the seed and the science behind it.
