The science component of the ETMAS program is comprised of coursework in the major. A total of 32 semester hours is required.

Specific courses are selected in consultation with the program’s faculty coordinator. Prospective students and those admitted to the program should talk with the faculty coordinator well in advance of the first semester of study to identify a course of study best suited to their individual needs.

REQUIRED COURSES

All students are required to complete the following:

  • ETMA 501 – Graduate Research I (1 hour)
  • ETMA 502 – Graduate Research II (1 hour)
  • ETMA 594 – Graduate Seminar (0 hours; enrollment required each semester)
  • One course in statistics (3-5 hours)
  • One course in research methods including experimental design (3-5 hours)
  • One 500-level course from the departmental elective list (3-5 hours)

Subtotal: 11-17 hours

ELECTIVES

In consultation with the program’s faculty coordinator, students select additional courses in one or more of the following areas of specialization:

  • construction management;
  • environmental systems;
  • mechanization, marketing, and technology management systems;
  • production systems, or
  • renewable energy systems.

Courses for the specializations may be taken in agricultural and consumer economics, agricultural communications, agricultural education, animal sciences, business administration, civil and environmental engineering, computer science, crop sciences, electrical and computer engineering, industrial engineering, labor and employment relations, mathematics, mechanical engineering, natural resource and environmental sciences, and statistics. The mix of courses will be approved by the program’s faculty coordinator.
